Please join us for a training with The Civil Survival Project’s Reentry Legal Aid Program (RLAP). This one hour presentation, led by Jacob Kuykendall of the Civil Survivor Project, will cover the process for vacating a conviction, some useful tips and tricks, and how Civil Survival can pair you with a client in need of help and mentor you through the process. Volunteering with RLAP means you'll work directly with justice-impacted individuals and help them clear a path for better employment and housing by helping resolve their post-conviction issues. By vacating convictions off of their background checks or helping to waive outstanding legal financial obligations, you can use your law license to help people who need it but can't afford an attorney. Most cases take between 10-20 hours from start to finish, spread out over a course of a few months, and many are resolved successfully without a court appearance. Through the entire process, you will have ongoing mentorship and resources provided by an experienced post-conviction attorney, you can earn CLE credits for your pro bono hours, and you will be doing something that truly helps people get a better life.
